World Prematurity Day 2025: Celebrating Strength, Hope, and New Beginnings
Every year on 17 November, we pause to honor the tiniest and bravest fighters—babies who arrive into the world too soon. World Prematurity Day 2025 reminds us how fragile, yet incredibly strong, these little lives can be.

How CMOSH Hospital Celebrated the Day
This year, Chattogram Maa O Shishu Hospital (CMOSH) marked the day with heartfelt activities.
-
The morning started with an awareness rally inside the hospital grounds. Doctors, nurses, staff, interns, and parents joined in, walking together to support premature babies.
-
After the rally, everyone gathered at the ICH Seminar Hall for a warm and meaningful discussion program.
-
Specialists from neonatology and pediatrics shared their experiences—what challenges preterm babies face, how NICU care saves lives, and how families can stay strong during such a difficult time.
The entire event created a sense of unity, compassion, and shared responsibility.
Why Prematurity Awareness Matters
Around 15 million babies are born early every year. For many families, this brings fear and uncertainty. Preterm babies often struggle with:
-
Breathing problems
-
Infections
-
Feeding challenges
-
Developmental delays
But with the right care and support, many of these babies grow, heal, and go on to live full, healthy lives.
2025 Theme: “Every Preemie Deserves a Healthy Start”
This year’s theme is a simple but powerful reminder:
Every premature baby deserves love, protection, and a safe beginning—no exceptions.
Hospitals, families, and communities all play a vital role in giving these babies the best chance to grow and thrive.
A Heartwarming Gathering at ICH Seminar Hall
During the program, neonatologists, pediatricians, nurses, hospital leaders, and parents came together.
They spoke openly about:
-
The emotional journey of caring for a premature baby
-
The importance of teamwork inside the NICU
-
How a family’s courage and hope can make a huge difference
One message was clear:
Saving a preterm baby is not just a medical duty—it is an act of love and humanity.
Our Gratitude
Behind every survivor, there is a team working day and night.
We thank the NICU doctors, nurses, midwives, respiratory therapists, and all support staff who give their hearts to these tiny lives.
A Final Thought
World Prematurity Day is more than just a date on the calendar.
It is a reminder that every small life matters, and every preemie deserves a chance to grow, laugh, and live fully.
CMOSH Hospital and the ICH family stand together in their promise—
“Every Preemie Deserves a Healthy Start.”
